Carl was drafted by the Los Angeles Kings in the 1989 NHL Supplemental Draft after a five year career with the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds of the Canadian Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. UBC was never a competitive team while Carl was there and he was frequently noticed for keeping UBC in games where they were outshot by wide margins, stoppping as many as 60 shots in a game.

After a stellar performance for Team Canada in international play, he played in the Kings organization both for Phoenix in the International Hockey League and New Haven in the American Hockey League. He suited up for several NHL regular season games in a backup capacity but didn’t see action.

He is a seasoned executive (20+ years) and operator with experience driving growth across North America in health tech, prop tech & ed tech. He managed a worldwide portfolio of 13 SaaS companies for SureSwift Capital.

As a registered Project Management Professional (PMP) Carl has over 10,000 hours of strategic program management & project management. He is a certified change leadership, knowledge management, and UXUI specialist. He has deep knowledge in operational systems like EOS & McKinsey’s 7S’s, and a plethora of
management software associated to structure, systems, sales, staff, and software development. Carl is the founder of BrilliantShift, a basecamp and think tank for entrepreneurship, deep data analysis & valuation, change & project leadership, and business startup incubation & acceleration.
